Need a Pedicure? April 12, 2008

I went to a nail place in the Publix shopping center on the Beltline a while ago, and I determined that I will never go back there. I am really picky when it comes to who I allow to give me a manicure or pedicure. You should be too! A few things that I will not tolerate is a place where they do not sanitize the items they use, like the clippers, nippers and stuff like that as well as the basins where you soak your feet before a pedicure after every client. The other thing I will not tolerate is if they hurt me. And that is why I will not go back to the place I mentioned above. Just won’t. I don’t have to wear open toed shoes.

But then my sister convinced me to try Nails First, the new place in the new Target shopping center (next to Panera). I was nervous. I was prepared to say ‘Ewwwwwww!!! and leave if they didn’t prepare to use sanitized items. I was prepared to yell ‘Ooowwwww!!!!!!! and leave if they hurt me. But that didn’t happen I am very pleased to report!

I got a pedicure only but I walked out of there with my feet feeling great! Why not a minicure too? I rarely get manicures as I am one of the lucky ones. My nails grow fast and strong and the little attention my cuticles do require I can usually do easily and quickly on my own. And no, I never get fake nails, but if my sister gets a set I will report on her experience here.

The pedicure stations are of course brand spanking new, as are all the items in the place. The seats had the back and seat messagers built in (omg that felt sooooooooo good), the arms of the chairs easily lift so you can get in and out without trying to figure out where to step, the side tables have little pull out trays so you can reach your coffee or book, and there was a light in the water basin that changes color. I know the light thing isn’t that big of a deal, but it was just an extra touch that made me smile. It was nice. They didn’t just set the place up with previously used items bought who knows where. The pictures on the wall were actually pictures. Gasp!!!! Not those ugly 80’s hand/finger/nail prints that everyone looks at in disgust.

It was a great experience, and I usually hate getting pedicures. The employees and other customers in there were nice and friendly, and the price was great as well, $25.00 for the pedicure (sorry, I don’t remember other prices).
